Bird of the Day: mourning dove, bird on a wire

Where: my parking lot, basically

When: 5:40 pm

Bird Species: house sparrow, mourning dove, gray catbird

Things I Thought About:

  • Earlier today when the Tom Holland lip sync rolled through my feed, I really watched Tom Holland, my grandson, dancing to Umbrella, and in a couple of places I found him to be so genuinely hot in, like, a sexual way, that I should probably be arrested. Absolutely humiliating.
  • I did not take a walk today, because obviously having a day of no work yesterday means twice as much work. Also, I'm trying to take Friday off, so I'm pushing.
  • It was dark, fully appeared to be nighttime, when I left pub quiz at 8:36 pm. Sometimes it really hits that the days are getting quite short. This isn't a bad thing, per se, but I will need to remember to get my walks in.
  • I'll stay in the office until 9pm after the time change, I don't care, as long as I get to spend a couple of hours outside in the daylight first.
  • Sometimes when I say this to people, that I genuinely suffer when I have to be inside all the hours of daylight, they recommend a sun lamp. It's odd that when I say, "I simply cannot be inside all winter" they think I'm only talking about Vitamin D. It's the "outside" part that's important, not simply that the sun, coincidentally, is also outside.
  • Pre-dreading the time change, a September tradition.

BOTD: mourning dove. I had literally four minutes today to fulfill the brief. I feel quite lucky that there is always a bird or two hanging around.
