Where: tree by my balcony
When: 7:36 am
Bird Species: this house sparrow
Things I Thought About:
- All of my favorite people are fans of a baseball team I hate with my life. For two weeks I have watched them hate their own team with a vitriol I reserve for ventriloquists and fascists, and yet if they win a three-game series against my team, who everybody hates, I will never hear the fucking end of it.
- All normal baseball shit. There is nothing wrong with any of this. Just, you know, I hate sports. Good thing I only care about one of them.
- In other baseball news, no one has ever looked more like a Boston Red Sox than Payton Tolle. Why does he look like that. He is 23 years old.
- I think I want to see Zach Cregger's Resident Evil. It looks scary, and he hasn't missed yet with me, even as a producer.
- Did anybody see Companion? I feel like people did not see Companion, and I thought it was so fun.
- I like Jack Quaid.
- After 10 am the metro commute becomes easy. You can park right next to the station once the reserved hours have passed, and it's okay to take slow, little baby steps. I still don't want to do it.
- There, a bird. I did it.
BOTD: a house sparrow. I cannot imagine saying one thing about this bird I haven't already said, except it was nice to be sitting there with a cup of coffee, a little glum, a little in pain, and think, "I sure hope a bird comes by and lets me off the hook," and then one did.
Speaking of letting me off the hook, send me some back-up birds! Stories, photos, memories, jokes. I have a couple I'm working on, but I'd love to have a reserve. Boot stays on at least through next Thursday.
