Bird of the Day: Muscovy Duck. Photo credit Mark Primiano

SKWBOTD Behind the Scenes:

  • I got orthopedically cleared to take the boot off! (That's good!) But I had very rude and illegal Friday work meetings all day after and didn't have a chance to get a bird today (That's bad.)
  • But I have photos in reserve from hero provider of bird coverage Dr. Mark! (That's good!) But I don't have time to create a nice, collected post about them so this will be a very short entry (That's bad.)
  • Because I guess I'm having drinks? With a man who asked if I wanted to? (That's...vanishingly rare!) But I'm sure I will not be weird. (That's debatable.)
  • So excited to get out and about this weekend.
  • If I don't mention the drinks tomorrow, don't you bring it up either.
  • Meanwhile, look at that crazy duck.

BOTD: Muscovy duck

Where: Seville, Spain
When: 12/7/2024

I get easily distracted by animals. Always have. If I hadn't wound up turning that into a career, it would probably be less useful/desirable of a trait. While walking around Key West on my honeymoon almost a decade ago, my now ex-wife would get exasperated by me petting every cat. "You do this every day at work, how can you be excited about that cat?" "Well I just met this cat!"

This duck happened to be hanging out in one of the reflecting pools at the Royal Alcazer in Seville. "What the hell is going on with that dude's face?" I said out loud, because I am a large child. I wandered closer and only stopped when it started hissing at me (they act like geese). - Mark Primiano
