Bird of the Day: mourning dove, a clockwork bird

Where: Ranger Road Park

When: basically a drive-by

Bird Species: American robin, northern cardinal, white-breasted nuthatch, mourning dove

Things I Thought About:

  • No time for birds tonight, sorry. This will happen. It happens much more rarely than seems possible, to be honest.
  • I told a lady at Huntley that I was out after a bird every day and she asked if I was retired which hahahhaha HAHAHA (eyes go black) HA HA HA no I never will be.
  • The bird of the day is a gnat.
  • Oh, that dove under the bridge looks exactly like the drinky bird toy.
  • What was that toy for, anyway? I feel like it was meant to illustrate some sort of Newtonian principle, but I bet most people mostly know it from that episode of The Simpsons.
  • Only us real ones know the drinky bird as the detonator that turned brilliant scientist Dr. Peyton Westlake into Darkman.

BOTD: that mourning dove. There were birds around this evening, I had photos of a robin and a nuthatch, too, but I do like mourning doves, they are so silly. They are silly birds, and watching him drink like that was very silly indeed. I'm glad I saw him. Photographs are real bad, though.
