Bird of the Day: house sparrow. Huge round of applause for this, the most sub-mediocre featured photo yet.

Where: Eakin Park at Prosperity

When: 6:10 pm

Bird Species: Heard but not seen: Carolina wren, northern cardinal, eastern bluebird, Carolina chickadee, American gold finch. Seen: eastern kingbird, house sparrow

Things I Thought About:

  • I am playing a second round of pub quiz tonight, because we won last time and we like to show up for our winner's choice category. We picked Schoolhouse Rock, and I was boning up yesterday. I have had "Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla" stuck in my head all dang day.
  • I...do not see any birds. I said weeks ago that I needed to drop this park out of the rotation, and nothing has changed about that, except I saw the swallows yesterday at the other end of the park, and I wanted to see if there was anything in these bird boxes.
  • There isn't.
  • If we win tonight, I think we should a choose Miracle on 34th Street (1947.) Christmas in July.
  • Gene Lockhart was such a That Guy, maybe the ultimate That Guy of that era.
  • On my movie podcast they were identifying John Carroll Lynch and named movies and never mentioned Fargo. Wild.
  • Boy, The Invitation is a movie I have thought about a lot since I saw it. I thought about it a lot, a lot during Trump's first term.
  • I saw a trailer once for a movie with Dale Dickey and Wes Studi, a true That Guy match made in heaven. I never saw it, though, thereby ensuring we won't see more late middle-aged romance stories. I am part of the problem
  • Dave Bautista was making a rom-com. Dozens of pals sent me the Deadline announcement, but I don't know what became of that.
  • You see, HE, HIM, and HIS are pronouns, replacing the noun "Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla" (a very proper noun), and IT is a pronoun, replacing the noun, "kangaroo!"
  • Banger. Covers a lot of ground. Gabriella Rafaella Sarsparilla's partner is an aardvark.
  • Schoolhouse Rock says Love is Love.

BOTD: house sparrow. Uninspired, I know, and also just a bad photo. The birds were not cooperating this evening. My fault, bad choice of venue. I'll try harder tomorrow.
