Where: the neighborhood
When: 7:30 am
Bird Species: house sparrow, gray catbird, American robin, mourning dove, European starling, common grackle, house finch
Things I Thought About:
- I have been enjoying my current audiobook but just now the narrator said, "her eyes slurped him up" and I simply don't know what to do about that. It wasn't a sexy scene, which is the only saving grace. It would be unconscionable if the "him" in that piquant turn of phrase was getting naked.
- I looked up what kind of tree I was trying to describe on finch day and it's some kind of curly willow. There are finches in it again.
- I was on PTO Monday and Tuesday, and then yesterday we went to the Nats game. Tomorrow is the federal holiday. It is so, so stupid that I'm about to go into the office.
- All the usual suspects are out and about today. That starling has a worm.
- I think I will go see Disclosure Day tomorrow. It's interesting to me that I haven't heard anybody talking about it. Steven Spielberg makes a good movie.
- Almost time for the annual Jaws rewatch.
- I have friends who watch Jaws every year in installments, to match the scenes. They'll watch the beginning, the attack on Chrissie Watkins, on June 28th, the Amity town meeting on June 30th, the slap is on July 2, etc. It takes them from June 28th until July 6th to watch one of the best movies ever made.
- This is stunt viewing that I would put into the category of "ambitious in concept, but stupid."
- Um, no offense! Thanks for subscribing!
- 10/10 movie. E.T. is one also.
- I probably would have heard something about Disclosure Day if it was as good as E.T.
BOTD: gray catbird. I could hear a lot of them in the blackberry brambles this morning, but I only laid eyes on one. I liked his posture and general demeanor. He looked shy, but he was also showing off a little. Like a teenager, maybe.
