Where: around my condo complex and the one next door
When: very late (too late) afternoon
Bird species: house sparrow, house finch, mourning dove, American robin, European starling, Canada goose (flyover), northern mockingbird
Things I Thought About:
- The sun is going down later, I think, but the sun didn’t come out at all until 4pm and no way do I have the light to catch the colors on this male house finch. I feel like I might see a sunset after 5pm in the app this week, and there will be much rejoicing.
- Boy, do I not want to go to back to work on Monday.
- The American robins flock together all winter to share resources and you all the time see them eating berries together. It pains me to say this, but I think the American robin lacks dignity. I don't think it's connected to the "sharing."
BOTD: Northern Mockingbird. The mockingbirds are famous for mobbing up, and they just beat the shit out of any other bird in their territory. One time I saw two mockers chase a squirrel out from under a car and fully across the street. Literally a gang; I kind of love them.
