Bird of the Day: dark-eyed junco. This particular specimen can best be described as "proximate."

Where: my parking lot

When: 1:10 - 1:16 pm

Bird Species: European starling (flyover), dark-eyed junco. Heard but not seen: white-breasted nuthatch, house sparrow, blue jay, American robin.

Things I Thought About:

  • If I didn't have to run to the store because the batteries in my remote are fully dead, I'd stay inside and watch the Olympics all day and just use a back-up bird. This reveals nothing good about my discipline and character.
  • Cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, COLD.

BOTD: dark-eyed junco. It's sunny and windy and 15 degrees. Everything that had melted is frozen over and slippery again. Gusts up to 44 mph; the Feels Like temp is negative 6. I took a picture of the first bird I saw, which was this junco. You're welcome.
