Where: the neighborhood
When: 5:35 pm
Bird Species: house sparrow, gray catbird, house finch, mourning dove, American robin, northern mockingbird, American goldfinch
Things I Thought About:
- I am on a 90s/00s rom-com kick and boy did we ever let on-screen Hugh Grant get away with fucking murder, did we not.
- I mean, off-screen as well, but still. Complicated by the fact that the only one I've seen this week where he isn't committing the most outrageous acts of workplace harassment contains Anna Scott, a character I cordially loathe.
- [insert the "I am a dumb bitch with terrible taste, I will never change, I will never improve" photo here] I could watch Two Weeks Notice every day.
- Immature adult mockingbirds look completely busted. They are not the kind of sub-adult bird that looks cute. Which, come to think of it, might only be bluebirds and ducklings, and not even all ducklings.
- Sandra Bullock's hair looks like shit in Two Weeks Notice. I find her an impossibly winning on-screen presence. In the 1990s she used to not look like anybody else, too. Movies were better when people were allowed to look like neighbors.
- Also goslings are very cute.
- Also Ryan Gosling is very cute. I think the only movie I had seen him in before Barbie was The Nice Guys, so I didn't especially find him to be cute. I fell very hard when I saw The Fall Guy.
- I have never seen Love, Actually. I have been given to understand that Hugh Grant is exactly the same only more so.
- I have never seen The Notebook. I have read the Wikipedia synopsis about it, and I feel like I would be clinically insane to put myself through that.
BOTD: House finch. You've seen a bunch of them; they are permanent residents of the neighborhood, but I was tickled to catch that photo up top. Maybe it's my Christmas card this year. A nice thought, given that I never sent last year's Christmas cards.
