Ever since I was a little girl, I have longed to “post” without having to “engage.” Sara Kate's Bird of the Day is an attempt to force to people to look at my bird photos while I talk about them. Also while I talk about anything else on my mind.

This venture launched in January 2026, in a heady moment of New Year optimism. Check out the homepage, and subscribe if you want to comment and get the daily email.

I know, I know, so listen: it is the Bird of the Day, so don't subscribe unless you are prepared to receive an email every day. This email will be from me, so that's all right. Or you could simply add an Outlook calendar hold that recurs every four days reminding to you to check out the website.

This is my promise to you, the subscriber: I will never send you an email longer than you can comfortably read in a quick bathroom break.

Perhaps one day I'll add a tier where you can pay money to hear less out of me.
